The Eco-Schools Switzerland team provides personalised support to participating schools in implementing the Eco-Schools programme. To do so, it proposes:

THE ECO-SCHOOLS HANDBOOK

The Eco-Schools handbook, a tool developped by the Eco-Schools Switzerland team to help the Eco-Committee in the implementation of the programme in their school. It contains:

-> detailed instructions for implementing the Seven Steps Methodology
-> an outline of the themes proposed by Eco-Schools Switzerland
-> clear instructions on the Eco-Schools Award procedure
-> ideas of activities for each theme
-> age-specific tools and educational resources that facilitate the implementation of the project
-> examples of links to the curriculum

A PERSONALISED SUPPORT

The Eco-Schools Switzerland team provides personalised support to every school that embarks on the (education for) sustainable development journey. Depending on the support formula chosen, the school will benefit from:

-> an initial training for Eco-Schools coordinators
-> assistance with the organisation and facilitation of the first meeting of the Eco-Committee
-> assistance in carrying out the Sustainable Development Audit
-> assistance with the elaboration of the Action Plan
-> an individual mid-term debriefing meeting to discuss the progress made before implementing the Action Plan
-> access to the national Eco-Schools network with the opportunity to share experience and knowledge and meet with other members of the network
-> access to the international Eco-Schools network (after receiving the Award) and the right to participate in international Eco-Schools projects such as the “Eco-Schools E-Twinning project“

AN INITIAL TRAINING FOR THE ECO-SCHOOLS COORDINATORS

At the beginning of the project, the Eco-Schools coordinators are invited to attend an initial training. The latter is intended to provide the Eco-Schools coordinators with practical knowledge on the implementation of the programme in their schools. The training includes:

-> a comprehensive overview of the Seven Steps Methodology
-> hands-on sessions on how to carry out the Audit and create an Action Plan
-> an introduction to the Eco-Schools Switzerland extranet

ACCESS TO THE ECO-SCHOOLS SWITZERLAND EXTRANET

The extranet, an interactive online platform that facilitates the communication between the Eco-Schools coordinators and the Eco-Schools Switzerland team. It also allows the schools to:

-> access a database comprising various theme-related and methodological tools that support the implementation of the Seven Steps
-> access theme-related educational resources
-> consult project examples from other schools
-> keep track of the progress made
-> compile the Eco-Schools portfolio for the Award application
