Water

The Water theme allows students to examine questions related to the quality, quantity and distribution of fresh water on our planet. Other issues such as virtual water or micropollutants can also be considered through this theme.

WATER

Fresh water is essential for the health and maintaining of the ecosystems that supply our food and numerous other essential goods and services. However, only a fraction of the world water is both accessible to human beings and not salty. Very unevenly distributed, freshwater reserves are increasingly threatened by human activities. Water pollution, particularly that caused by urbanisation and intensive agriculture, threatens fauna, flora and our quality of life.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

There are some simple but effective steps we can take in our everyday lives, both at school and at home, to make our own individual contribution to reducing water consumption and maintaining its quality. Choosing cleaning products carefully, showering instead of bathing and not leaving the tap running for no reason are just a few simple examples of individual actions we can take.
